In true pot luck tradition, each DISH participant is asked to bring food to share. However, the participants in this event are asked to bring a family or ancestral dish with its recipe.
These photographs document the dishes shared at past events and act as not only documentation but as a form of portraiture; each one as unique as the person who brought it.
From the style of container, care taken to create the item, and manner in which it is presented, these dishes are an extension of the person who made them.
Because each dish is inspired by the individual's family traditions and backgrounds, these images also provide a lose record of the demographics of those in attendance at each event. Varying from region to region, town to town, and group to group, these clues provide some insight into the cultural backgrounds and make up of those gathering.
